New Delhi: In a categorical statement that should come as a relief to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, BJP president Amit Shah denied that his party had gone back on the promise of according ‘special status’ to Andhra Pradesh. “No question of going back. A decision will be taken soon,” he said while answering a question on the subject.

Taking questions on his government’s performance in the past one year, Amit Shah said here on Tuesday that the party would keep its word. On promises made to Andhra Pradesh during bifurcation, he said the party was serious about it. He himself had a meeting with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu recently and discussed the special status issue in the presence of Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu.

The BJP president said it was a matter of time and all issues would be sorted out. To another question, he said any developmental programme undertaken by the Centre would reach all the states irrespective of the ruling party.
