Additional Superintendent of Police Vishal Gunnu told this correspondent that around 10 armed Maoists opened fire on the police personnel who were on the routine combing operations in the area. After a brief exchange of fire, the Maoists receded into the deep forest. The team might have been led by a dreaded Maoist Kudumula Ravi, who carries a reward on his head.
