R Teja emerges victor in chess tourney. The District Sub-Junior Non-Medalist Rapid Chess Tournament was held at Global Chess Academy at Moghalrajpuram in the city on Thursday.
The District Sub-Junior Non-Medalist Rapid Chess Tournament was held at Global Chess Academy at Moghalrajpuram in the city on Thursday. The tourney evoked a good response from children. Speaking at the inaugural event of the the tournament, Chess Academy secretary Sk Khasim urged parents to encourage their children to play chess which helps them develop concentration and memory power.
“We are regularly conducting chess tournaments at the academy as part of our endevaour to promote the game and produce chess champions.’’ About 30 children took part in the Under 7, 9 and 12 categories of the tournament and played four rounds. R Teja won the tournament by scoring 4 points out in 4 rounds.
