“Rendering courteous service to the passengers is our motto. We will work hard in coordinating with union leaders and the operating staff to improve passenger amenities and to achieve the occupancy ratio of 72 per cent,” said Purushotham. Talking about the recent announcement of the wage revision of RTC employees to 44 per cent, he said,” The zone incurred a loss of Rs 187 crore in the previous financial year.

We are proposing to add 1,000 new buses in the current year of which 150 are RTC buses and 850 are private buses.”The Greater Hyderabad Zone has two regions, two divisions and 28 depots, with a total fleet of 3,812 buses of which 3,665 are RTC buses and 147 are private.


33 lakh passengers travel each day and the zone earns an average of Rs 2.61 crore per day. The total number of employees are 22,506 and the zone is incurring a loss of 1 crore per day. The zone covers Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and parts of Medak, Nalgonda and Mehbubnagar districts.
