Hyderabad: Former Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Botcha Satyanarayana appears all set to join the YSRCP. It is learnt that emissaries of YSRCP - Vijayasai Reddy, MPs Y V Subba Reddy and P V Mithun Reddy, Jyothula Nehru and Nageshwar Rao met Botcha at his residence on Friday and discussed the modalities of his entry into the YSRCP.

It is learnt that Botcha may meet Jagan on Saturday and join the party during the ‘Samara Deeksha’ which would begin on June 3 at Mangalagiri in Guntur district. According to sources, YSRCP leaders conveyed a message from Jaganmohan Reddy to the former PCC president that Botcha will be sent to the state Legislative Council from a local body constituency in Vizianagaram district.

According to YSRCP leaders, Jagan is keen on having a strong and vocal leader in the Legislative Council to counter Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Although three YSRCP members made their way to the Council in the recent elections, none of them is a seasoned political leader who can take on the ruling party based on issues.

On his part, Botcha is believed to have made known his keenness to YSRCP leaders over leading the party affairs in Visakhapatnam district. Associates of Botcha have reportedly contended that Botcha’s stature as a strong leader of Kapu community in the Northern Andhra region will be a big asset to the YSRCP.

Interestingly the meeting between YSRCP leaders and Botcha took place within hours after taking part in a lunch along with Central Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Vayalar Ravi in Hyderabad.
