In view of enabling and guiding intermediate students to choose their career options wisely, Minister for Irrigation Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and Minister for Human Resource Development Ganta Srinivasa Rao inaugurated KAB Educational Summit-2015 at Vedika Function Hall in the city on Saturday. In view of enabling and guiding intermediate students to choose their career options wisely, Minister for Irrigation Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and Minister for Human Resource Development Ganta Srinivasa Rao inaugurated KAB Educational Summit-2015 at Vedika Function Hall in the city on Saturday. The summit accommodated over 60 stalls set up by various educational institutions at the two-day fair.


Speaking on the occasion, Srinivasa Rao underlined the need to equip students with necessary skills to meet the industry requirements and bridge the gap between demand and supply of skilled manpower in the country. “The State Government has laid greater emphasis on skill development to meet the growing requirements of the industry.

There is an urgent need to develop basic infrastructure in government institutions to improve educational standards. All the problems of government schools and colleges will be resolved in a phased manner to achieve human resource development, which is a must to ensure speedy economic growth of the State,” the minister said.


Referring to other development initiatives of the government, he informed that the multipurpose Polavaram Project would be completed in next four years. Irrigation Minister Umamaheswara Rao advised students to choose career options in accordance with their preferences and areas of interest. “Parents should not force children to opt for engineering or medicine.

Students should be given the liberty to select the courses of their choice to enable them excel in career. Educational institutions need to focus on equipping their students with industry ready skills to increase the rate of employability. Conduct of campus recruitment drives by inviting major companies is also equally important to ensure that students get good placements,” he added.


Speaking about employment opportunities in the State, Umamaheswara Rao said, “Amaravati is going to be a world class city by the time the present batch completes their degree courses. There will be many job opportunities in the capital region.

Engineers, doctors and software professionals need not go to other cities in the country or abroad in search of greener pastures as many MNCs are expected to come to the AP capital attracted by its world class infrastructure.’’ KAB Educational Summit president Venkatesan, Koneru Lakshmaiah University vice-president K Raja Hareen and others were present.
