As Telangana is preparing to celebrate one year of its formation on June 2 , the credit for its birth as a state has become a huge controversy since the claims by political representatives have a made a fuss leading to a serious concern over the school history textbooks .

Telangana Congress leaders are upset since a new chapter in the state's tenth grade history text book is on The Movement for Formation of Telangana State. The chapter has details on how the incumbent Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s fast in 2009 led to the birth of the state , but there is no mention of the Congress or its president Sonia Gandhi.

Senior Congress leader Mohd Shabbir Ali said , "They themselves, KCR had said that whenever history of Telangana is written, Sonia Gandhi's name will be there in golden letters. But he has forgotten his own words and we would like to remind him about that,"

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi or TRS government in Telangana is unapologetic about this issue KT Rama Rao , Telengana minister and son of KCR said , "When I say victory, I don't mean only victory in electoral politics. I mean people evaluate, people assess whose contribution is what and then they decide. That is exactly what they have done. Who are we to deny people their verdict"

KT Rama Rao says if the role of the Congress has to be written, there would a lot more that would be controversial. "We have to talk about betrayal of Congress from 1956. The hegemony of Congress, the tyranny of Congress, the injustice perpetrated by successive Congress government and eventually political exigency of Congress party in 2014, the compulsion that was conferred on them by people of Telangana. We have to write a long story. So if Congress is prepared for that, we have no problem. We could consider inclusion. Because, all suicides that have happened, struggles that have happened and all injustices that have happened is in Congress regime", he added.

It is in fact not for the first time an impediment has arisen due to the concern over the narration of history in school textbooks related to politics where political inclinations and ideologies intact to specific wings of a political spectrum has been brought up in the academics of state board curriculum , perchance it might also be an attempt to persuade the political opinions of a budding student before firming his opinions. Last year the Gujarat government faced a similar problem when it was alleged that children were indoctrinated with pro-Nazi propaganda and many authors of social studies textbooks published by the Gujarat State Board of School Textbooks even have found faults with the freedom movement and to an extent criticized for subjectively glorifying Fascism and Nazism in the textbooks of grade 8 and 10.

The point of actuality lies in the attempt to politicize educational bases by influencing student's socio-political perceptions so as to persuade the narration of history for the glorification of framed propagandas. Such repetition of instances in our nation points out to a serious concern over the designing and nurturing of a student’s outlook towards Social issues in a fair and sanguine manner.
