Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam Party president and Chief Minister of AP N Chandrababu Naidu exhorted the TDP rank and file to take on the TRS and mount an unrelenting all out fight against it and work in the direction of bringing the Telugu Desam to power in the 2019 Assembly elections in Telangana State.


Addressing the party delegates on Friday after being elected as national president, on the last day of the three-day Mahanadu at Gandipet here, Naidu said that the party would stand by Telugus and would strive for their welfare across the globe.Earlier in the day, the Telugu Desam Party announced its transformation as a national political party and unanimously elected Nara Chandrababu Naidu as its first national president.


Naidu was elected unopposed to the post of president of the national committee. As no other leader filed nomination for the post, the election committee announced Naidu's unanimous election. The TDP leaders had filed 30 sets of nominations on behalf of Naidu, who is also the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. With this, the 34-year-old regional party began the formalities to get itself recognised as a national party.

Senior party leader and Telangana TDP election committee president E Peddi Reddy administered the oath to the newly elected party president. The party also authorised Naidu to constitute party’s central committee and AP and Telangana State party committees.
