Hyderabad: The Special Court for ACB cases on Monday extended till July 13 the judicial custody of TDP MLA A Revanth Reddy and two other accused, Sebastian Harry and Uday Simha, in the cash-for-vote scam. All three accused were produced before the ACB Court on the expiry of their 14-day judicial custody on Monday. They were brought to the court at Nampally in Hyderabad amid tight security.
- The judgment in the bail appeal case of Revanth Reddy filed in the High Court is scheduled for Tuesday
- ACB said to be getting ready to take voice samples of AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu
The ACB sought extension of the remand of the accused on the grounds that the investigation into the case was at a crucial stage. Revanth Reddy, along with other accused Uday Simha and Sebastian, were arrested by the ACB sleuths on May 31 after a sting operation for allegedly trying to woo nominated Anglo-Indian MLA Elvis Stephenson with money to vote in favour of TDP nominee Vem Narender Reddy in the recently-held MLC elections.
After perusing the memo and the grounds on which the extension was sought, the court granted the same till July 13. Meanwhile, the judgment in the bail appeal of Revanth Reddy filed in the High Court is scheduled for Tuesday. It is pertinent to note here that the time given to another TDP MLA Sandra Venkata Veeriah of Sattupally constituency, who has been evading the ACB notice to appear before it for recording his statement in connection with the scandal, expired on Monday.
Speculations are rife that if he fails to respond to the notice, the ACB sleuths are likely to arrest him for questioning. Two special teams have been reportedly formed by the investigating officers for the purpose. The ACB also seems to be getting ready to take measures to conduct the voice test of AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in connection with the scam.
