Warangal: The CPI activists on Wednesday staged a protest against rising prices of essential commodities. They condemned the State and Central government for their failure to control the spiraling prices. Led by the district CPI Secretary T Srinivasa Rao, a large number of activists of the party staged demonstration at the Ambedkar statue.


They weighed vegetables against cash. They raised slogans against State and Central governments. Speaking on the occasion, Srinivasa Rao alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, during the last elections, promised to control the rising prices of essential commodities, but failed to do so after coming to power.

During the last one year the prices of all essential commodities were doubled, he lamented. As a result, the poor and middle class sections were facing hardships. He demanded that the government take steps to control price rise. The CPI would continue the agitations to put pressure on the governments until the prices were reduced.


The party former MLA Potharaju Saraiah, leaders V Sadanandam, M Swamy Charan, Gunde Badri, Mahila Samakhya leaders N Shravani and R Vidya and others were present.
