Hyderabad: The Telangana government has appealed to Niti Aayog to ensure increase of Centre’s grants to Telangana with a view to it being the youngest State and emphasis laid on overall development.Niti Aayog vice-chairman Arvind Panagaria called on Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, at the latter’s camp office, on Thursday.



Rao briefed him about government flagship programmes such as Mission Kakatiya, Drinking Water Grid and Haritha Haram among others. Recalling the previous Planning Commission’s assistance to States for construction of irrigation projects, he requested the Niti Aayog to implement the same besides collecting interest rates from the respective States.

KCR appealed to him to consider hiking the FRBM limit from 3 to 3.5. Also, he sought special package for development of the most backward districts in Telangana State, as was highlighted in the Reorganisation Act. Arvind Panagaria appreciated TRS government’s industrial policy as well as Mission Kakatiya and Water Grid schemes.
