Fiat 500 facelift revealed in exterior & interior spy shots

With the official presentation of the revised Fiat 500 taking place tomorrow, new spy shots of the hatchback have surfaced on the internet revealing both the exteriors and interiors of the vehicle. The front fascia of the Fiat 500 has been restyled to make it look younger and fresher in the market.

The minor design changes features a redesigned front bumper, new grille, redesigned airdams, new secondary light enclosures and for the first time, optional LED headlamps. The car looks fresh overall, but the most important bit is the updated cabin.

On the inside, the overall design seems to remain the same, other than a few changes here and there. The Fiat 500 gets a new steering wheel with chrome inserts and a redesigned centre console. However, the main highlight of the refurbished cabin is the addition of a new touchscreen infotainment system which is seen on the model for the first time.

The new unit is based on Fiat’s U-Connect infotainment system that is also found in the larger Fiat 500X crossover. Surrounding the new system on both sides are newly designed central air vents. Fiat may also retail the 500 with new colours along with better quality interior materials and trimmings.

On the mechanical front, the Fiat 500 facelift will remain unchanged although according to a few reports, the front disc brakes could be upgraded and the existing engines could be tuned further to lower carbon emissions and increase fuel economy.

The current crop of engines include a 0.9-litre TwinAir, turbocharged petrol and a 1.2-litre petrol unit. Power from the engines will continue to be driven to the front wheels through a will 5-speed manual and a Dualogic AMT gearbox. Fiat will be launching the performance version, the Abarth 595 Competizione in the country in early August.
