Not many know that the Former Miss Universe Aishwarya Rai is a Mangalorian. She was born and brought in Mangalore and speaks excellent Tulu. Aishwarya lookalike Sneha Ullal, who soothed Salman after his famous breakup with Aishwarya, too is a Konkani from nearby port town of Ullal.
The most happening heroine of Bollywood Deepika Padukone is also from the nearby village of Manguluru. Even Anushka Shetty, the reigning queen of Southie movies for over a decade, is from Mangalore. Bubbly actress Genelia Deshmukh is also from the same city and her mother tongue is Konkani. Budding heroine Pooja Hegde, who is currently acting with Hrithik Roshan, is from the same city and her mother tongue is Tulu. Even yesteryear star Shilpa Shetty also has her roots in the same city.
