Hyderabad: Panjagutta police claimed to have busted a gang of seven bike lifters. Police recovered nine bikes worth Rs 6 lakh from their possession. The accused, Vemana Ayyappa, 21, of Yousufguda, Korra Mahesh, 23, of Punjagutta, Abhijeeth Chatterjee, 20, of Begumpet, Teku Dorababu, 19, of Begumpet, Tirumala Venkatesh, 24, of Ameerpet, Gummadi Ravi Kumar, 19, of Yousufguda and Kichnagari Sachin, 19, of Begumpet committed two-wheeler thefts by using duplicate keys to remove the handle locks under the limits of various police stations of Cyberabad and Hyderabad.



Acting on a tip-off, a crime team under the supervision of SHO, Panjagutta, S Mohan Kumar intercepted them when they were riding on motorcycles in Panjagutta area. On being questioned, they failed to show the documents and were found to be possessing stolen bikes with fake registration number plates. “They have nine cases registered against them in various police stations under various sections” ACP (Panjagutta) Venkateshwarlu said.
