Hyderabad: In what comes as a welcome boost to the beleaguered Indian badminton doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa, Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has taken the first towards ensuring that they duo gets its due share of assistance from the Centre.
In a letter written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, Rao has sought the inclusion of the two in the "Target Olympic Podium" (TOP) scheme that is endeavoured to extend all help to medal prospects in the Rio Olympics. Currently ranked No 13 in the world, they are the first Indians to win a bronze in the World Championships.
