President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the ‘Nakshatra Vatika’ garden on premises of Rashtrapati Nilayam Gardens, Bolarum, Secunderabad on Monday. Governor of Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh E S L Narasimhan and Telangana State Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Ali were also present.

The garden to be opened to public in Jan

Hyderabad: President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the ‘Nakshatra Vatika’ garden on premises of Rashtrapati Nilayam Gardens, Bolarum, Secunderabad on Monday. Governor of Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh E S L Narasimhan and Telangana State Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Ali were also present.


Later, the President went around the garden built in area of nearly one acre. He watered a plant representing ‘Surya’ or the Sun God. This scenic garden will be thrown open to public in January first week along with other gardens in Rashtrapati Nilayam premises. The layout of ‘Nakshatra Vatika’ has been developed in various geometrical combinations corresponding to the Sri Chakra of Vedic astrology.

In the core, the formation is square-shaped accommodating nine squares to represent the nine Planets. Each square is planted with a particular tree or plant variety that represents the respective planet and is placed as per the astronomical direction. President’s abode in Hyderabad already boasts of an “Herbal Garden”. And, Nakshatra Vatika will be the second specialised garden.

It may be recalled that Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi has Nakshatra Garden, Herbal Garden, Cactus Garden, Spiritual Garden, Bonsai Garden and the most famous Mughal Gardens with a large collection of roses.
