Vijayawada: AP will get a Zoological and Biodiversity Park, if the State government comes up with necessary proposals, since Central government’s motto is development without destruction, said the Union Minister of Environment and Forests Prakash Javadekar Objecting to Rahul Gandhi’s remarks that development was not a subject of environment ministry, he said that their agenda was to strike a balance between both environment and development and accused some parties of trying to make the poor poorer.

After launching Andhra Pradesh Green Corps as part of 66th Vanamahotsavam celebrations at Kottur reserve forest here on Friday, Javadekar said AP will get around Rs 1,200 crore for development of forests from Rs 38,000 crore lying in the account of Compensatory Afforestation Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA), and ad hoc body of Ministry of Forests.

He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will introduce the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Bill in coming Parliament session. Dismissing the concept that Ministry of Environment has become a stumbling block for development, he said the ministry had actually turned into a facilitator.

Apart from handing over forest land to AP government soon for building capital, environment ministry has given clearance to three irrigation projects in the state and claimed that Central govt has launched a Green India Mission.
