Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today inaugurated urban forest park 'Amravathi' at Kotturu Tadepalli village near Vijayawada. On the occasion, Naidu said the state government has decided to develop 15 such parks in all the 13 districts of the state and the move will check air pollution.

Naidu, along with Union environment minister Prakash Javadekar planted a sapling at a Zilla Parishad High School at the village, located on the outskirts of Vijayawada. He appealed to the people to plant one sapling at least once in a year and asked for their contribution to transform the state into 'Harithandhra Pradesh'.

"If five crore people plant at least 10 plants a year, it takes the number to 50 crore trees in one year and in next 10 year, it will go upto 500 crore. If this can happen, the development will have a huge positive impact on the climatic condition," the chief minister said.

In order to promote afforestation and environment conservation, the state government would undertake activities on every third Saturday of the month. He also said the government will promote green corps in all school to create awareness among students. Naidu on the occasion thanked Javadekar for approval to allocate 15,000 acre forest land to Andhra Pradesh in the capital region.
