New Delhi: The incredible tale of ten-year-old Indian golfer Shubham Jaglan continued when he won the International Junior Golf Academy (IJGA) World Stars of Junior Golf event in Las Vegas. Ironically, this is his second consecutive IJGA title. More than the achievements it is his life saga that comes as a refreshing example of what determination, in the face of economic compulsions, can achieve.

Son of a milkman, Shubham learnt the royal sport on tough terrains, where his prodigious talent was noticed and he was shifted to a real course, where he mastered the strokes. The youngster, who is nicknamed Tiger after Woods, shot a three round score of 106 to win by a five-stroke margin in the boys 9-10 years category title at the Angel Park on Thursday. The 10-year-old was ahead of two Americans Justin Dang and Sihan Sandhu and Thailand’s Pongsapak Laopakdee for the Boys 9-10 years category.

This comes on the heels of the Junior World Golf Championships triumph after scoring a three-day total of seven-under 179 at the Welk Resort Fountain Course in California last Sunday. The youngster expressed his delight at the feat and identified his success as a consequence of hard work.

"It's just a dream come true. It was all my year's hard work. I am celebrating in a great way. All my friends are congratulating me," Shubham said. "It was all because of my family's support, my coach, my school which helped me in the US, and Delhi Golf Club for giving me all facilities for playing. My dad supported me through my life and it has been a great journey."

The amateur golfing sensation from Panipat district in rural Haryana, promised to continue playing with dedication. "I am just working hard and being honest, there are no short-cuts for me." Former golfer Nonita Lall Qureshi has been training Shubham since he was seven-years old. He was five years old when he started golf, practicing in an agricultural field. He has already won over 100 tournaments.
