Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of BDMA event here on Monday, Industry Secretary Aravind Kumar said the project is getting good response from industry. It has received ‘expression of interest’ bids from the pharmaceutical industry from domestic and overseas companies, he added.

“We have already acquired land from revenue department in various sizes spread across the 30 km radius, forming part of the proposed Pharma City project”, Kumar said. There is a huge demand of about 4,000 acres of land (without common areas) from small, medium and large business houses, he added.

He further said that the government has also received EoIs from two of the top 10 MNC pharmaceutical companies. It has roped in BDMA for identifying potential inmates for the pharma city.

“We propose to have clusters like small and medium industries, large industries, research labs, Pharma University, training institutes, logistics hubs, dry port, customs area and common facilities like effluent treatment plants etc,” Kumar said.

The state government has already identified about 11,000 acres for the pharma city and most of the land located in Mucherla village in Ranga Reddy district. However, some of the land is categorised as forest land, for which the environment clearance is yet to receive.

The proposed city is expected to have drug testing facilities of international like USFDA and local government agencies of international repute, thus offering higher degree of quality facilties.

In the first phase, the government is expected an investment of over Rs 25,000 crore which will generate an employment to about one lakh people both directly and indirectly.
