All decks have been cleared for the Metro Rail works near the Old Gandhi Hospital. Commercial Taxes minister Srinivas Yadav along with HMR MD NVS Reddy inspected the Metro Rail works on Thursday. Two major pending issues were solved on Thursday during an inspection.

The Hyderabad Metro Rail would be building a Sainik Aram Ghar, a resting place-cum-logistic movement centre in the 1.65 acre mortuary land that was recently handed over to the HMR. On the request of the minister, HMR agreed to spare 35 square yards around a neem tree for Samba Murthy Nagar Basti residents. Residents have been requesting the authorities not to chop the tree as they have been offering prayers to Naga Devata and other deities.

The Old Gandhi Hospital area will be developed as a major transport hub. The Secunderabad West Metro station of corridor-II will be connected to the Secunderabad Railway Station with a skywalk for a length of about 200 mtrs and will provide landing facility to all the platforms of railway station.

Similarly another skywalk will be built on the road in front of the railway station for a length of about one kilometre and it will be connected to Secunderabad East Metro station of corridor-III which is coming up between Lekha Bhavan and Oliphenta Bridge. Secunderabad East Metro station will also be connected to the main Railway station through a skywalk with landing on all the platforms.

The bus stops which are scattered around the railway station would be integrated in the Old Gandhi Hospital area and a world class transport hub will be developed by HMR for inter-modal connectivity between the two Metro Rail stations, MMTS, Secunderabad Railway station and TSRTC bus services.

HMR and L&TMRHL officials later visited the Boiguda and Kacheguda areas and inspected the progress of corridor-II Metro Rail works. Sanction for BT and Cement Concrete (CC) road works in several stretches of the road between Musheerabad and Kacheguda which got damaged due to the overflowing sewer lines was accorded.
