Woman delivers in hospital toilet, leaves baby to die
In a shocking incident, a woman left her just born girl child to die, after she delivered her in a wash room, in the wee hours of Wednesday. The incident took place at the Government General Hospital (GGH) in the city. The body of the just born child was later found in a blood pool by the sanitation staff of the hospital.

According to the hospital staff, a woman named Durga (30) from Chittinagar was admitted in the wee hours of Wednesday in the new government hospital. As she was already critical, the hospital staff advised her to visit the Gynaecology department in the Old Maternity Government Hospital in Hanumanpet.
She went to use the wash room and returned after long time all the while behaving as if nothing had happened, leaving the just born in the toilet, where she delivered. The baby girl died on spot while Durga fled the place and even refrained from informing the hospital staff.
Hospital Superintendent U Surya Kumari said that a baby girl’s dead body was found lying in the washroom and we immediately alerted police on the issue. Durga was advised to join the Maternity hospital in Hanumanpet but she fled. An FIR has been registered under Section 174 of CrPC and we are trying to trace her through the 108 service, which she made use of while getting admitted in the hospital. “We also learned that she was accompanied by her mother and brother,” said Machavaram police.
