Khammam: In a first of its kind in Khammam district, a residential house in Annapureddipalli village under Chandrugonda mandal is being lifted by a Haryana-based company Mam Chand and Sons, which has mastered the technique ‘lift or shift’ a house, to a height of three feet.

Vemula Nagesh, a businessman has been living in his ancestral home built nearly 40 years ago. Over the years, the road level in front of his house was raised by about three feet as the authorities laid the road and re-carpeted it a few times. As a result, whenever there is rain, his house is inundated.

Recently, Nagesh stumbled upon an advertisement ‘Lifting and Shifting Services’ of Mam Chand & Sons. He immediately contacted the company and engaged them to lift his house by three ft at a cost of Rs three lakh. The company started work on Thursday, it’s learnt. The company’s workforce under the supervision of manager Guruman Singh dug up the basement and placed about 200 cone-shaped jacks to bear the load of the four-room house.

However, they managed to lift the house only by six inches on Friday; it’s learnt that it will take at least a month to complete the lifting process. Sources said that the company will take the responsibility for any cracks developed during the operation. With 22 years of experience in the field, Mam Chand & Sons has been successful in carving a niche for itself as a prominent service provider of lifting and shifting services. It has completed 5,000 such projects.
