Army jawan tries to molest 14-year-old girl

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, the alleged sexual assault by an army jawan on a 14-year-old girl caused unrest in Trimulgherry area of Hyderabad on late Saturday evening. The Trimulgherry, police who identified the man as Suresh, 32, residing in the quarters, will be arresting him shortly.

The incident took place when the girl was returning home along with her sister from a medical shop, when the jawan, reportedly in an ‘inebriated state’ tried to sexually harass her. According to the police, the minor’s mother is working as a house maid in an official army quarters.

The residence of the official is located in Timmaiah Block near R K Puram. An Army jawan who was regularly visiting the said official, found the girl near a grocery store, during the night hours on Saturday. He pulled her away into the nearby bushes and attempted rape.

Meanwhile, her younger sister, who was observing this, started to scream, prompting locals to rush to the spot. Threatened by the cries of the little girl and noticing the approaching people, the man fled the spot.

The girl who identified the man informed her parents. The locals who came to know about the incident held a demonstration in front of the officer’s residence late at night. Later, they complained about the issue with Trimulgherry police.
