In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Sunday, the Chief Minister urged him to rechristen the DRDO in the name of Kalam as a fitting tribute towards his services in the defence sector.
KCR attributed the development of defence sector at the national level and the establishment of various defence-related organizations, such as DRDL, Midhani, RCI and ICBM in the historic city of Hyderabad, to the former President. Giving Kalam’s name to the DRDO, the prestigious organization of the country, is apt and inspirational for the posterity, he remarked.
India has successfully launched a variety of prestigious projects and scaled many heights of success from the DRDO due to the relentless efforts of Kalam, he said. Kalam’s able leadership in the defence sector at the national level left indelible mark; he said adding that the former President had an inseparable bond with Hyderabad.
