ICDS project director, Chandrasekhar said that anganwadi workers in west Godavari district were implementing special awareness programmes for pregnant women at hospitals.

Speaking on the occasion, the project director suggested the anganwadi workers to admit the pregnant women three days before delivery into nearest government hospitals and that the government has taken all necessary steps to minimize the death rate of mother and child in the district.

“Breastfeeding is best for the healthy growth of a child. The government is supplying nutritious food to pregnant women to avoid anemia,” he said. Corporator Korada Durgamalleswari, Yellapu Satyavathi, Nersu Suguna, CDPO Y Jayalakshmi and others participated in the programme.
