Lok Satta wants to turn Kalam’s dreams into reality

Lok Satta national president Dr Jayaprakash Narayan Monday proposed that India be transformed to greater heights as per the dreams of former President APJ Abdul Kalam through six-point formula of reforms in politics and governance. Addressing a round table conference at FAPPCI attended by noted personalities here, he took exception to the successive governments’ indifferent attitude towards the people’s needs.

Hyderabad: Lok Satta national president Dr Jayaprakash Narayan Monday proposed that India be transformed to greater heights as per the dreams of former President APJ Abdul Kalam through six-point formula of reforms in politics and governance. Addressing a round table conference at FAPPCI attended by noted personalities here, he took exception to the successive governments’ indifferent attitude towards the people’s needs.


The reforms proposed are – allocation of Rs 1000 per head at ward level with decentralisation of powers, service guarantee act, setting up strong Lokayukta with accountability to seize the assets of corrupt persons and local courts offer speedy justice to people;education, health, facilities and complete overhaul of civil services.


He alleged that no significant changes have been occurred in the lives of the people and there is no chance for inclusive growth as the governance at national level is failing to give proper direction. Expressing concern over cumbersome functioning he said that there is a need to give priority to resources, leaders and system to be changed in accordance with the changing needs and demands.


A study conducted in 74 nations revealed that India occupied 73rd position at world level in primary education sector, he said.Tamil Nadu former Governor, PS Rammohan Rao, former vigilance commissioner CR Kamalanathan, Justice Lakshman Rao, former CBI DG Vijayarama Rao, former IAS Anjaneya Reddy, Forum for Good Governance founder Padmanabha Reddy, Pragna Bharathi Chairman Hanuman Chowdhury and former MP Prof Lakshmanna shared their views.
