Hyderabad: Decks are cleared for conducting Independence Day celebrations at Golconda Fort for second consecutive year on August 15. Telangana State government has decided to hold celebrations this year too at the Fort. Earlier, the government considered holding celebrations at Parade Grounds.


With the Archeology Department and Army officials giving permission, the government changed its plans. The Chief Secretary, Dr Rajiv Sharma, at a high-level review meeting directed the officials to make elaborate arrangements for the purpose.The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao will unfurl national tri-colour at Golconda Fort at 10 am after paying tributes at Martyrs Sainik Memorial at Parade Grounds, he stated.


The officials were directed to make arrangements to reflect Telangana culture and traditions. Apart from providing tight security, he asked the officials to illuminate Raj Bhavan, High Court, Charminar, Secretariat, Assembly and other important offices and passages leading to fort.

He directed the officials to take steps for decoration of main platform with flowers at the Fort, install LED cameras nearby, parking at various places, barricading, public address system, signage boards, mini buses, clean drive and upkeep of the premises. Cultural troupes would perform at the historic monumental site, he added.
