Hyderabad: The Telangana State government will be procuring as many as 25,000 rickshaws for waste disposal in villages. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao directed the officials to decide on the number of rickshaws to each village depending upon the population.

KCR held a review meeting on Grama Jyothi scheme at the Secretariat on Wednesday. He approved the draft report on guidelines for Grama Jyothi scheme. The officials were told to make all arrangements for simultaneous inauguration of the scheme in all districts on August 17.

Grama Sabhas should be held in every village so as to prepare priorities list for the next four years, KCR said. Besides employing effective waste disposal methods in villages, Rao told authorities to undertake Haritha Haaram drive to increase greenery in rural areas. He also decided to convene a meeting with officials, who would be deployed as 'change agents' for Grama Jyothi scheme.
