Aler encounter: CS NHRC urged to act expeditiously on MHA notice

Activists demand 30 lakh as relief to families of the slain convicts

Hyderabad: The National Confederation of Human Rights Organisation (NCHRO) on Thursday urged the Telangana Chief Secretary and Joint Secretary (P&A) of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to act expeditiously upon the notice sent by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and bring justice to the victims’ families who were killed in the Aler encounter.

Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, in connection with the notice issued by the Human Rights Division of the MHA on July 29 to the Chief Secretary of Telangana and the NHRC on Aler encounter killings, Mohammed Abid, State Coordinator of the NCHRO, Syed Moinuddin, State General Secretary,

Popular Front of India, Shaik Hassan, State NCHRO Committee Member, Mohammed Ahmed, father of late Viquar Ahmed and Syed Imtiyaz Ali, brother of late Amjad Ali said on April 7 , five Muslim undertrial prisoners --- Viquar Ahmed, Mohammed Haneef, Syed Amjad Ali, Mohammed Zakir and Izhar Khan --- were killed in an alleged encounter by the Telangana police on the way to the Nampally court at Hyderabad from Warangal Central Prison.

Stating that the SIT formed by the government gave a clean chit to the persons responsible for the fake encounter, they demanded that the government order a CBI inquiry and exhume bodies of all the five killed on April 7, conduct re-postmortem immediately. The judiciary and the State government should take full responsibility for the murders of the five undertrials. They also demanded a compensation of Rs 30 lakh to family members of those killed.
