In a welcome move, the Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association (APOA) received recognised status from the Indian Olympic Association, at the executive committee meeting, on Sunday. Association Founder President, Kodandaramaiah informed the decision after the meet.

Association General Secretary RK Purushotam and K Pattabhiram said that they received recognition certificate from Indian Olympic association and authorised to send teams for National Games to be held at Goa next year. The association has recognition from Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh and 29 sports bodies were affiliated to the organisation.

Association leaders Punnaiah Chowdary, Sultana and others were present. Meanwhile confusion prevailed over sportsmen as two different bodies organised EC meetings on the same day, in Vijayawada, in the name of AP Olympic Association authorised bodies.
