Hyderabad: Telangana State Director General of Police Anurag Sharma on Saturday inaugurated a newly-built model police station at Abids here.Speaking on the occasion, Anurag Sharma said the police in the State had won laurels for adopting people-friendly approach.


More number of model police stations would be opened all over the State in the near future, he said. The DGP said the efforts were afoot to modernise police stations as part of the people-friendly project. In the first phase of the programme, radical changes would be brought in all the police stations under Hyderabad and Cyberabad Police Commissionerates, he said.


Anurag Sharma said the State government had granted Rs 20 crore for construction of model police station in Hyderabad, Rs 45 crore for Cyberabad. Besides, the government had approved a plan to be taken up at a cost of Rs 58.5 crore for the purchase of closed circuit cameras for Hyderabad and Rs 25 crore for Cyberabad.


Soon the traffic police in city would soon wear body camera to ensure greater transparency. Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Mahendar Reddy and several other higher police officials were present at the programme.
