Hyderabad: Telangana Auto Drivers Joint Action Committee (TADJAC) has alleged that the private auto financiers in the State have neither licence to do finance business nor are they following established practices for recovering the loans.
In the backdrop of finance companies fleecing the auto-rickshaw drivers, the TADJAC at a media conference here on Saturday demanded that the government intervene and rescue the drivers from the clutches of “greedy financiers.”

TADJAC convener Mohd. Amanullah Khan demanded that the government set up auto drivers finance corporation. He threatened to go on indefinite fast from October 2 if the government failed to announce the establishment of corporation by September-end.
Khan said the TRS government had granted 45 per cent fitment to the RTC staff.

Besides, the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, was extending all help to the TSRTC to help revitalise it. Auto-rickshaw drivers too were also providing service to passengers in the same way as the TSRTC was doing. But the government had failed to extend help to the drivers, except abolishing motor vehicle tax of Rs 440 annually on auto-rickshaws.

He recalled that the auto-rickshaw drivers too had actively participated in the agitation for a separate statehood for Telangana. As such, it was the responsibility of the government to care for the welfare of drivers, he said. J Ravinder, M A Saleem, Mirza Rafathullah Bag, K Lakshmi Narsaiah, Mohd. Dastagir, S.K.B. zaman and Shaik Raheem were also present at the media conference.
