Senior Congress MP takes potshots at former PCC president

  • Srinivas accused of exploiting the party’s post to make money

Hyderabad: Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao asked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to remain cautious about the Special Advisor to the Government, D Srinivas, who claimed himself to be a non-corrupt politician.
Speaking to the media persons at Gandhi Bhavan here on Saturday, the senior leader described his former colleague as an opportunist who had exploited the Congress party’s key post as PCC president during his two terms and generated huge wealth during the same period.

Citing as to how D Srinivas sold B-Forms during the election period, he recalled that MP T Ratna Bai was called by his son to deposit Rs 10 lakhs on phone. “Even the tribal leaders were not spared by him, during elections,” he recalled. Reacting to former PCC president’s statements that it was because of him the Congress was able to rule for 10 years, Hanumantha Rao said that the leader was known only for his oratory skills, but the party had drawn its real fire power from Warangal meeting held in 2002.

Former Chief Minister the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy who could feel the pulse had then embarked upon his famous padayatra which catapulted the Congress into power, he said.Given his style of working, Rajasekhara Reddy preferred Srinivas over VHR, the Rajya Sabha member said. After Rajasekhara Reddy died, now his soul in the form of KVP is working against me,” lamented Rao.

TPCC spokesperson B Mahesh Kumar Goud said most of the politicians were aware of the fact that D Srinivas sold B-forms during his tenure. “If he claims that it was because of his talent that Congress had come to power, then why did he lose in his own constituency ?” he questioned.
