Dokka joins TDP in presence of Naidu. Senior leader representing the Dalit community and former minister Dokka Manikya Vara Pasad on Sunday joined the ruling TDP in the presence of party President and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Speculations are doing rounds that Prasad would be given an important post dealing with SC welfare in the TDP government. Prasad, who was branded as one of the intellectuals in the Congress party in the united Andhra Pradesh, has been maintaining distance from active politics since 2014 general elections.

It was earlier speculated that he would switch his loyalties to the YSR Congress party after quitting the Congress party. Though he was a close confident of Narasaraopet MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, the former Congress leader won the heart of the former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and was one of the ‘ trusted lieutenants’ in his Cabinet.
He held Education and Rural Development portfolios in the 10-year Congress rule before the bifurcation of the State. Inviting the former Congress leader into his party, Naidu said leaders who maintained clean chit and good track record in politics are always welcome to join the TDP.
