MP K Kavitha Calls for united fight against Centre’s partisan attitude

New Delhi: TRS MP K Kavitha has appealed to the people of Andhra Pradesh not to resort to suicides over the denial of Special Status to the State, while asking the Chief Ministers of both Telugu States to come together and launch united fight against the Centre for development of the two States.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Kavitha said it was unfortunate that the Centre was not keeping its word on the promises made to both the Telugu States during bifurcation. “Giving up life was not a solution to the same. The people should realise that positive results could be achieved only through a united fight.

As an elderly sister, I am appealing to the youth of Andhra Pradesh. Please do not commit suicides. Instead, question the Centre and fight for your rights. We also faced similar situation during our agitation. So many youth had committed suicides then. And it was too painful,” she added.

Accusing the Narendra Modi government of ignoring the interests of the Telugu States, the TRS MP accused the present Union government of lacking federal spirit. Kavitha has stressed the need for unity and cooperation among the two Telugu States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to achieve common goals of development.

She appealed to AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to join hands with his Telangana counterpart K Chandrashekar Rao to wage a common battle against the injustices meted out to the Telugu states by the Maharashtra and Karnataka governments in releasing Krishna river waters, instead of squabbling with Telangana over petty issues.

Kavitha earlier met President Pranab Mukherjee to convey her condolences over the recent passing away of his spouse. She presented a copy of 'Bhagavad Gita' to the President. She was accompanied by Srinivas Goud, Bajireddy Goverdhan, Gampa Goverdhan and eight other MLAs of the party.
