About 1,000 workers of the Larsen and Toubro Hyderabad Metro Rail (L&THMRL) came onto the streets in protest and threatened to go on an indefinite strike demanding payment of salaries. The workers, who came out of the Uppal depot enmasse raising slogans against the company, said that they did not receive salaries for the last three months

About 1,000 workers of the Larsen and Toubro Hyderabad Metro Rail (L&THMRL) came onto the streets in protest and threatened to go on an indefinite strike demanding payment of salaries. The workers, who came out of the Uppal depot enmasse raising slogans against the company, said that they did not receive salaries for the last three months.


Shouting slogans against the sub-contractors, the workers marched towards Dilshuknagar on Saturday.The workers are mostly from Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and other states who stay in and around Nagole and work at the Uppal depot. Ram Naik, a worker said,


“How do we manage without salaries? It is three months since we were paid salaries; we also work for more than 8 hours.”L&TMRH general manager, corporate communications, Sanjay Kapoor said that the issue is between the workers and the sub-contractors.
