Hyderabad: In what began as a routine check on a passenger who moved suspiciously at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad in Hyderabad has turned out to be a massive drug haul that sent the cops into a tizzy. The doctors at the Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad extracted as many as 40 capsules containing narcotic drugs from the body of a South African woman on Monday.

The woman was arrested by the officials of Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) on Sunday when she tried to smuggle the contraband at the airport. The 32-year-old woman, Moosa Mosiea, had concealed over 40 capsules containing cocaine in her urogenital tract and some in stomach to smuggle them.

The doctors were shocked to see the number of capsules the woman had concealed in her body risking her life. On Sunday, they managed to recover 16 capsules from her body, while 24 more were extracted on Monday. Anticipating the risk of performing a surgery to Mosiea, the doctors treated her with laxatives and extracted the capsules. They said that suspecting more capsules in her body, tests were being conducted on her.

Till Monday, the doctors managed to recover 450 grams of narcotic substances, which is estimated to be valued at Rs 1 crore in the international market. Mosiea was taken into custody by the NCB officials on Saturday when they found her moving suspiciously. Mosiea claimed that she was seven months pregnant and was facing difficulty in walking.

On verifying her past air travel details, the NCB officials took her into custody for physical examination. Investigation by the NCB revealed that Mosiea flew to Dubai from Johannesburg in South Africa on August 23. The next day, she landed in Sao Paulo city of Brazil and returned to Dubai on August 28, and from there she took an Emirates flight to Hyderabad.
