Hyderabad: The myriad accusations and the recent disgruntlement notwithstanding, Arshad Ayub, President of Hyderabad Cricket Association was at his defiant best while pooh-poohing every charge, which were ‘grossly unwarranted,’ Speaking to reporters here on Monday the former India off-spinner said that the panel was doing its best to bring in an element of transparency in its functioning and ensuring that quality would never be compromised.

He agreed that there were differences of opinion among the members, which was the fundamental norm in a democratically-elected body. “We are doing everything right and there is nothing to hide. All our accounts have been audited. Our focus has been cricket and we are doing a fine job of it,” he said. Ayub, who was flanked by Secretary, K John Manoj and Advisor, PR Man Singh, said that they were going all-out to improve umpiring standards.

‘Other than this we have conducted an enhanced Senior Zonal and Junior Zonal. M V Narasimha Rao is the Central Academy Chairman. I am hopeful that all these will have positive gains and they will start getting reflected in course of time. Taking questions, he said that they had never stopped salaries to the employees and every power bill was paid.

‘Someone is playing mischief by spreading canards. We are sure to nail the culprit sooner than later. The talk of a No Confidence letter against is utter rubbish. As a new measure, the HCA has slashed grants clubs that do not furnish audited accounts.
