Chandigarh: Apparently taking a cue from Gujarat’s Patidar agitation seeking OBC status, leaders of the Jat community are planning to relaunch their stir demanding similar eligibility for reservations in the Central jobs and education.Working in this direction, the Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (JASS) has launched a nationwide drive to 'recruit' Jat youths for the Jat Yuva Sena (Young Jat Army) to fight the reservation battle.

“We will hold a massive rally at Mayyar village in Hisar on September 13, which will mark a re-launch of our agitation. We have chosen that day as it coincides with the death anniversary of one of our activists, Sunil Sheoran, who was shot by the Haryana police in 2009,” according to Yashpal Malik, national president of the Akhil Bhartiya Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti (ABJASS).

The Jats will decide the plan of action of their Delhi protest on September 12 in New Delhi under the leadership of former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amrinder Singh. JASS's Haryana state unit President Dharampal Chaut said the Jat activists will block all 14 rail tracks on September 28.

The recruitment began in Ambala on August 20, with 50 Jat youths, who were provided bamboo sticks and black scarves (worn by commandos) by the Jat leaders. The Jat community has also launched a Facebook page, besides a Whatsapp group, to attract Jat youths to join the Jat Yuva Sena. They are being asked to give a missed call to join the 'army'.
