A man on the pretext of taking a Rs 6-lakh Harley Davidson bike for a test ride sped off from a Banjara Hills showroom on Tuesday.

The accused who introduced himself as Tahir Ali said that he was working for a software firm in Gachibowli and resided in Jubilee Hills. He gave the showroom authorities his mobile number and a copy of his driving license after introducing himself at the Harley Davidson Showroom at road No. 2 in Banjara Hills. Choosing a Street 750 model for a test drive, he zoomed off into traffic while the staff appointed to accompany him was not able to spot him in the traffic.

The staff waited for his return for over an hour and kept calling his phone only to find that it was switched off. A complaint was lodged by the showroom authorities with the Banjara Hills police. Through Traffic closed circuit TV footage, the accused was traced and was found riding towards Alwal via Begumpet.

Banjara Hills inspector P. Murali Krishna informed that they found that the accused was seen filling petrol near Tumkunta and also was heard boasting about the bike - its specialities and its mechanical specifications with the curious staff at the petrol pump.
