They Cyberabad police on Wednesday arrested four persons for hoarding rice meant for public distribution system in a warehouse. The Special Operation Team Police conducted raid on the warehouse at Fatehnagar in Pahadishareef and seized 228 quintals of rice along with some essential commodities.

Hyderabad: They Cyberabad police on Wednesday arrested four persons for hoarding rice meant for public distribution system in a warehouse. The Special Operation Team Police conducted raid on the warehouse at Fatehnagar in Pahadishareef and seized 228 quintals of rice along with some essential commodities.


They were estimated to be worth Rs 8 lakh. A bike and a van were also seized from the arrested persons. The arrested were identified as Dara Shankarlal (53), a businessman from Maharajgunj, Ch Madhu Kiran of Balapur, H Raju Kumar of Hyderguda and a van driver Sk Gaffar (25) of Nizamabad.


Additional DCP E Ramachandra Reddy, in a press statement, said the prime accused Shankarlal used to procure the rice, sugar, wheat, dal and salt, meant for public distribution system, from local brokers at Amarbhai, Prakash of Chatrinaka, Rakesh of Gowliguda, Ibrahim of Chatrinaka, Prabhakar of Riyasath Nagar, Raju of Moghulpura, Nagaraju of Aliabad, Mallikarjun and another dealer of Riyasath Nagar. These dealers are absconding.


The investigation, the DCP said, had revealed that one of the accused Shankarlal, used to supply essential commodities to a dealer Kama in Nizamabad, who, in turn, used sell them to retailers at higher price.
