Patronage of arts a social responsibility, says GDV Prasad Rao

The golden jubilee celebrations of Andhra Nataka Kala Samithi brought art and culture to the fore with ballets and playlets, at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College, on Tuesday.

‘Padmavathi Kalyanam’, a ballet performance, which was presented by Bhagavatula Venkata Rama Sarma and his troupe, depicted the keerthanas of saint composer, Annamacharya on Sreenivasa Kalyanam. In addition, they staged a playet, ‘Rendu Nissabdhala Madhya’. Abhinaya Arts of Guntur staged the playlet written by Sistla Chandrasekhar and directed by TS Ravindra Reddy. Music was composed by T Sambasiva Rao.

Participating in the event as a chief guest, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) State Vice-President, GDV Prasada Rao, lauded the efforts of Nataka Kala Samithi to promote arts and culture by organising unique cultural programmes. “Patronage of performing arts is a social responsibility as the society can be enlightened through the effective medium,” he said.
