Sergey Kirienko, CEO of SC Rosatom said that the same project on MOX-fuel fabrication plant had been set up in the USA 5 years before Russia started its own MOX-fuel plant construction. He adds that finally the USA had to suspend the plant’s construction. According to Sergey Kirienko, the USA has already spent $7.7 bn on this project while Russia has invested about 9 mln RUB which is no more than $240 mln.

At the moment the output schedule is being planned which will correspond to BH-800 reactor’s needs. The minimum controllable power level has already been achieved at the reactor and the works on power level increase are also carried out.

In August the FGUP “GHK” fabricated the first fuel assembly with uranium pellet made from MOX-fuel.
