Highlighting the importance of Interventional Pulmonology . Prof T Ravi Raju, Vice-Chancellor of Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, inaugurated a continuing medical education (CME) programme on Interventional Pulmonology organised by Aayush Hospital in the city on Sunday.

Dr R Narasimhan, senior pulmonologist at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, Dr VR Pattabhiram, senior interventional pulmonologist at Kovai Medical Center, Coimbatore, Dr Sai Yandamuri, senior thoracic and lung transplant surgeon at Yashoda Hospital, and others spoke on advancements in Interventional Pulmonology, a subspecialty in respiratory medicine.

The CME programme and workshop covered Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS), narrow band imaging, Electromagnetic Navigation Bronchoscopy (ENB), Medical Thoracoscopy, airway stents, bronchial thermoplasty and other topics.

A practical session on removal of foreign body from airway, endobronchial valves, lung volume reduction, air leak and other surgical procedures was also held for delegates. Andhra Pradesh Medical Council chairman Dr Yalamanchili Raja Rao, Aayush Hospital managing director Dr K Gopala Krishna, CME programme organising secretary Dr MS Gopala Krishna and others were present.
