Just when people in India were worried about the gradual downfall of rock scene, legendary alternative rock band, ‘Puddle of Mudd’ performed at five major cities in the country as part of their national tour. The band had their pit stop at Hard Rock Café in the city on Saturday.

Crowd poured in for the concert from six in the evening as the sound engineer played some of the best tracks by AC DC, Metallica, to build up the tempo before Puddle of Mudd took the energy to the ceiling. The protracted crowd broke into applause as Matt Fuller, lead guitarist, hit the first chord and cued in the rest of the band.

As the music progressed, Wesley Reid Scantlin, lead vocalist, had a shot of Jack Daniels and sang; giving goosebumps to the crowd. The joy of experiencing an artiste, whom you have been listening on the top charts of America and the world, live, is bliss in itself.

The band filled energy in the closed space; heat pumped up with the beats as they performed the famous track, “She Hates Me”. The audience, including the bartenders sung the song in sync with the artiste. Apparently, this was one of the best experiences Wesley Scantlinhas had so far.

The two and a half decade experience of the band was quite visible in their sound check, which had taken as long as two hours early that afternoon. Adding to the quality of vocals was the lead by Matt Fuller and the bass by Michael John Adams, who is new to the band.

For those who followed the band from its early stages would know the drummer Dave Moreno, who had been on and off the lineup for quite some time. Dave Moreno’s drumming stood out when the band performed “Control” and “Away from me”. Though the band hasn’t had a constant lineup since its inception, Wesley should be appreciated for just getting the quality of music, vocals and lyrics better everytime.

To stop the music would be like stopping of time. And like every other good thing, even this gig had an end. However, what is a matter of excitement for Puddle of Mudd fans is that the band is currently working on their next album dubbed ‘Wiping the Slate Clean’, which would be their next original album after ‘Volume 4: Songs in the Key of Love & Hate’ in 2009.
