A new study has found that after intercourse many women experience PostCoital Dysphoria (PCD) or post-sex blues, which includes tearfulness, a sense of melancholy or depression, anxiety, agitation, or aggression.

The recent study evaluated an online survey, which indicated that among 230 females 46 percent of respondents reported experiencing PCD symptoms at least once in their lifetime, with 5.1 percent experiencing PCD symptoms a few times within the past 4 weeks.

Although researchers weren't able to find any relation between PCD and intimacy in close relationships.

Dr. Robert Schweitzer, who led the study, said that previously they investigated the correlates of sexual functioning in women and with their latest study they have now confirmed the negative postcoital emotions in women.

The study is published in journal Sexual Medicine.
