KRU women’s cricket team the second best in south. The women’s cricket team of Krishna University (KRU) stood runner-up in the South Zone Inter-University Tournament which was held at Saveetha University in Chennai from October 2 to 7.

The women’s cricket team of Krishna University (KRU) stood runner-up in the South Zone Inter-University Tournament which was held at Saveetha University in Chennai from October 2 to 7. The KRU women’s cricket team which participated in the South Zone Inter-University Tournament for the first time, tasted defeat at the hands of Osmania University in the final.

Despite the loss in the final, the KRU team qualified for the All India Inter Zonal Inter-University Women's Cricket Tournament to be held at University of Mumbai in Mumbai in December. The women’s cricket team was given a warm welcome on its arrival from Chennai at the railway station in Vijayawada on Wednesday night.

Physical directors of the university affiliated colleges, District Sports Development Officer P Ramakrishna and others received the team members, coach B Udaya Kumar and team manager N Sridevi. University Vice-Chancellor D Suryachandra Rao and Sports Board Secretary N Srinivasa Rao hailed the good show of the team in the South Zone Tournament. The Vice-Chancellor said that cash awards would be presented to the team members for their achievement.
