Salwa Judum making inroads in State?

A pamphlet circulated by the anti-Maoist outfit warns Maoists of severe action if they don’t lay down the arms

Karimnagar: Speculations are doing rounds that the anti-radicals outfit Salwa Judum is planning to launch its activities in Telangana, as a pamphlet surfaced recently in the name of its Telangana State secretary Yogender.

Salwa Judum is an outfit that formed to counter Naxalite violence in Chhattisgarh region. The pamphlet threatened the Maoists with severe consequences,

if they tried to resume their activities in the State. The pamphlet was circulated among some of the police officers through social media and was not revealed to outsiders.

The circulation of the pamphlet attains significance as it appeared at a time when various sections blamed the government for killing two Maoists - Shruthi and Vidyasagar Reddy - in ‘fake encounter’ in Warangal district.

This is for the first time an outfit, which has been waging a strong battle against extremists in Chhattisgarh, challenged Maoists in Telangana State.

It may be recalled that some unknown assailants, who claimed themselves as black cobras, sneaked into the house of late Maoist leader Kanapuri Sambasivudu, who was hacked to death after joining the TRS.

Virasam leader Varavara Rao also received threatening calls by someone. In the pamphlet, Yogender threatened physical attack on the family members of Maoist leaders if they failed to give up arms and surrender before the police.

Alleging that the Maoists were spoiling the lives of innocent students by dragging them into extremist movement, he said besides Maoists, Telangana Salwa Judum was also ready to counter other small extremist groups.

Commenting on the ruling party leaders’ statements that they would implement Maoist agenda, Salwa Judum leader asked the TRS leaders to stop making such comments for the sake of votes.

Requesting the public not to believe human rights activists who were holding agitations for their selfish ends, he also told them not to extend any cooperation to Maoists.

He termed the resumption of Singareni Karmika Samakhya (SKS), affiliated to Maoist party in Singareni coal mines, as the negligence of Police Department. Finally,

he said he wanted to continue the aspiration of Mahendra Karma and wipe out Maoist party from the grassroots.Speaking to The Hans India,

Warangal Range DIG and in-charge for Karimnagar range, B Malla Reddy said there was no activity of Salwa Judum in north Telangana districts.
