Hyderabad: In the wake of alleged attacks on people eating beef, the student organisations of Osmania University have decided to hold a beef festival on December 10.

Addressing the media at University College of Arts and Social Sciences, AISF state secretary RN Shankar said Opposition, Dalit, Bahujan and other student organisations would hold the beef festival at Arts College.

He opined in a democratic country, people have every right to eat their choice of food. However, after BJP government took charge, there have been many incidents of attacking people for consuming beef.

The student leaders said they would hold a seminar on beef festival on November 25 and a round table conference with political parties on December 5. Shankar stated they would invite Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Bihar ex-chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav for the beef festival.

The ABVP, one of the major student organisations in the campus and staunchly opposed to eating beef, is yet to take a final call on the festival to be organised on the campus.
